Content Creation, Repurposing, Syndication, and Curation

Mastering the art of content with each of the Four Pillars of being a content generalist. Reaching out like an octopus!

Content Creation, Repurposing, Syndication, and Curation

Creating online bits of media, from the simple text block to the most interactive video. It is all the same when comes down to it: finding what the viewer likes. The most successful YouTubers, Tiktokers, Bloggers, and Podcasters, they all create content in this mindset.

From there you have a few options too to take your content further. Even taking the content of others further. Here are those ways, and some ideas to get you started in today's PolyTools Digest.

Creating Meaningful Content that Ranks

There is two parts of that title, the value of it, as well as if it is properly optimized for the search engines that make up the platforms.

This post is full of keywords, such as Content creation, or content repurposing. It will most likely rank, even if it is members only. I also try to explain these topics in a way that even someone in the space could get a fresh perspective.

I've met a ton of people in this line of thinking/world, but a lot of the time we get too caught up in systems. Focusing on the actual function of the content, how do we reshape it, or how do we post automatically, etc.

However it really comes down to the value you can get from the post, does it actually help you in some way. Even just leaving with a new idea is a good thing, and that is what each piece of content should at least do.

Repurposing your Content like Arms of an Octopus

Honestly, this is my favorite part too. It isn't the most new part of this field. Yet people are still not even considering it. We have been repurposing for decades in different ways, from books to movie adaptations, and more.

In the content world it is much more quick and easy to consume type of stuff. However people get stuck on the basic skills, and then try to do the more advanced things. Just like at the gym, you can't pick up the heavy weights until you pick up the small ones.

Go put in the reps with your pillar pieces of content, so that you know how all of these various systems work. THEN you can go out and create ... or rather repurpose from the big stuff, your microcontent.

Additionally, there is Syndicating

While not the same as traditional repurposing, where you take a piece of bigger content, and chop it up. Taking your content and syndicating it across chosen platforms is often a valuable idea.

However it does come with drawbacks, if you're not careful it could have a negative impact on your performance. Particularly if there are watermarks, i.e. when people shared their Tiktoks to Reels/Shorts WITH the watermark. Now I know there are some tools to get rid of that part of the video, even some repurposing tools have it built in!

We are starting to see the separation of Reels/Tiktoks/Shorts now, at least I am from my POV, but it is still quite viable at this time to cross post. Another example, one that I am trying right now even, is taking my micro-blogs and posting them to Linkedin Articles/Medium.

Curating the Finale

To be frank I have the least amount of experience with this, but you could think of it as the cherry on top. For example my main content subject is polymathy, and there are a handful of really great minds creating content about it. By sharing those works, I not only improve my own knowledge, but that of my following as well.

A lot of people follow me purely for that one subject, just like all of you follow me for the PolyTools stuff. (formerly PolyInContent)

You don't always have to be the CREATOR of ideas, but sometimes the CURATOR.
